My Own Fic Hallmark Channel!

OK.  Today is the all-day Christmas channel in my fic world.  I’m taking all fluffy Christmas requests for any pairing or triad that I write (since, apparently, that’s a thing for me now if the triad is right, LOL), and anyone I’ve expressed interest in before.   I’m going to be doing a lot of things in the coming days, so I will probably not be posting a ton (after today) until after Christmas, but I’d like to also say that I will be continuing to write holiday fics until I’m tired of doing it.  (Some of you know that I have occasionally had a little like Christmas-in-August thing going on, so I’m wildly unpredictable about that.) At any rate, drop off anything you’ve got, and I’ll give it a go!  (And, if what you’ve got isn’t Christmas, drop it off and I’ll get to it when I can.  You know I love to go spelunking through my inbox!) DS9 S3 E10 - Fascination

This is the kind of episode I love from Star Trek, something wacky and weird and cheesy, though I am going to be talking about how gross some of it is. I like it when my Trek gets silly.

First things first, I am glad that the Jake/Mardah stuff is over. Even if I am a little "icked" by how much he's interested in Kira. I *know* that wasn't him so, at least not intentionally, so I'm not holding it against the episode. It just gave me the ick.

I love how its been clear that Bashir and Miles's friendship has evolved, even if we're not seeing it all happen on screen, their conversation in this episode was a nice bit of banter. And then when Keiko leaves at the end and Bashir is just there to pick up where Keiko left off? They're very much best buds. But also I'm seeing more of the polyam fam thing going on and I dig it.

While I am not a fan of the Kira/Odo ship, I can definitely see how the show is setting it up and there are some cute moments for the two. Poor Odo not only had to sit through Kira walking away to be with her ACTUAL boyfriend, he had to walk in on Bashir and Kira making out in the most graphic way. Like ew, the way they were all over each other... ick lol

With that, I really wish we had more Odo/Lwaxana content. I think they would have been sweet together. He's clearly uncomfortable around her and I felt bad for how touchy she was with him, but whenever they actually stop and have a REAL conversation, they're so sweet.

I don't like any video of myself, but if I had been doing a reaction video, the scream, and clapping to the immediate sympathy that happened when Keiko and Molly stepped off the ship followed by Lwaxana would have been priceless. I have mama issues (among others) with Lwaxana but man do I love it when she shows.

Bareil being jealous of Jadzia was fun and probably the first time in the show I felt like there might be weight to the Jadzia/Kira ship. I look forward to more of these moments. Cause I always need more gay.

The Jadzia and Sisko stuff made me laugh but also cringe because I am sure Sisko was sitting there picturing the Old Man while Jadzia was hanging all over him even if Sisko sees the two as separate people. I was laughing and neuro spicy uncomfy flapping with every scene they were together lol

Miles and Keiko are once again the realest couple I have seen on TV in a while. I love how much he loves her, how far he's willing to go for her, and how much she returns both sentiments. Yes, they argued, but most people do. What matters was how they were willing to have a healthy conversation about how to fix things and how they were up for figuring things out. Together.

Also, the way Miles was about to ruin his entire career being another man not only touched his wife but made her uncomfortable? Yeah, Miles doesn't fit the "bad guy" label at all but he stepped into my favorite "Don't touch her" kinda trope in that second lol

I appreciate how easily Lwaxana accepted that everything was her fault. She's very much an anti aging kind person but she just nodded and apologized for the trouble she caused. She's grown as a character since her introduction on TNG and I love to see it.

7/10 - because it was fun af and might have been higher if there weren't big moments of ick for me

ok here we go:

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)

it used to be odo but now by far sisko, mainly because the benny russell plotline is my absolute favorite star trek plot ever. is he sisko or benny.... if he ascended to the prophets or whatever did he create benny?? if benny russell was a real author in strange new worlds... what does that mean. "you are the dreamer and the dream" is rotating in my microwave brain constantly. odo is still my emo repressed babygirl though.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)

if couples count, worf and jadzia. yes they can and have gotten away with murder yes i still want to put them in a little jar on my desk. they're legitimately one of the best written tv couples ever. worf is the wife and jadzia is the husband though

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)

damar, im not saying hes a good person or anything but his arc was so interesting to me and he did have his very good moments at the end

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)

rom and leeta. roms development was also SO good and leeta is the cutest side character ever i love her. like star trek does not get better than wimpy alien man finding his passion for engineering and falling in love with his hooters waitress wife who helps him form a union. that was peak cinema

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)

i cant think of a character that's necessarily unpopular... maybe lwaxana?? i know she was like a minor villain in tng but i loved her in that ep where she hung out with alexander, and her friendship with odo later on in the show was actually super cute to me. she is a queen idc what tng says. headcanon she's still like alexanders cool aunt and worf is very tired.

also near the end... kai winn?? i do not like her or think she was a good person at all but i did feel bad for her for maybe two seconds near the end. i dont know she spent her life wanting to talk to god only for some alien guy to become emissary so while shes evil and i hate her i kinda have pity for her so shes my meow meow idk

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)

dukat for sure. i would drop dukat in hot soup. definitely the best written star trek villain though and marc alaimo is such a good actor, every time i watch a dukat ep im like how does alaimo act so well that i genuinely hate this man with a passion

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)

kai winn. i know i just said shes my meow meow but i hate her i hate her. same thing with marc alaimo though, louise fletcher was such a good actor that for 45 minutes i hated her like she was real dude

Hey guys! I think I’m better (maybe my stomach won’t try to kill me this time) so I decided to make these three Deep Space 9 aesthetics for my favourite person, @angrywarrior69. One of the best ways to spend my free time!

1) An Odo/Lwaxana Troi aesthetic. I *really* love them together and there’s no much fanart out there for them. Hope this moodboard is nice.

Odo: I am not like you. Every sixteen hours I turn into a liquid! Lwaxana: (shrugs) I can swim.

2) A Kira Nerys/Jadzia Dax aesthetic. I don’t like pink and I realized I’ve never made a really pink moodboard. Pink and purple seemed fine to me for this pairing though, so I decided to try these colours and I think it ended up good.

3) An Odo/Quark aesthetic. Okay, Quark needs way more aesthetics, guys. He’s so underrated. Anyway, these two are space husbands so they deserved their own moodboard!

Quark: He's an ill-tempered, overbearing, cross-patch. But he was no Cardassian collaborator, and he's no killer. Zayra: I can't believe you're defending him, Quark. You're his worst enemy. Quark: Guess that's the closest thing he has in this world to a friend.

favorite fic you wrote this year

This is impossible for me to narrow down to one (hey, you know I ramble, it's not a secret) so I'll do one for each "category." LOL Favorite FINISHED Caryl: Liberty and Justice Favorite UNFINISHED Caryl: (currently, because this changes often) Savage Favorite Trek (I can't choose just one, because there are so many ships): What May Come of Dreams, A Minor Indiscretion (though The Time is Out of Joint was really a close second), and honestly most of my Lwaxodo short fics. Only one person really reads them, I think, but I like them. LOL Favorite Crossover: Love Beyond Time

18. current number of wips I think there's like 30 across fandoms and including ones that have been sort of shelved for a while. This also includes one shots and short fics that I've started, but they haven't panned out. I fully intend to finish all of them, for better or for worse.

21. most memorable comment/review

Not to be a total sap, but really there are so many. Any comment or review, at all, tells me that someone is reading. That's the difference, often, between motivation and not having it. Any comment that engages with me or the story is truly wonderful. I love the ones that are excited about the story. I love the comments that are about someone who has just discovered something I've written for the first time, and I love the ones from those who are reading something for the umpteenth time. I love the names that I see over and over (and some have been with me for years). I love the ones who join me in different fandoms and go with me across fandoms. I love the ones that tell me I introduced them to something new because they decided to take a chance on a story that's "not their couple". I love the comments from people who support me, no matter what, and leave that comment when nobody else does. I truly love all of the comments and reviews that I get, and I often go back through them all when I need a little pick-me-up. They are what keep me sharing stories, and every one is appreciated!

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t

This is honestly a bit of a sad question. I wanted to write so much. I wanted to finish far more than I did. I wanted to start a ton more. The end of the year is a reminder of how much you didn't get done. Of course, this is also a question that I can view as full of hope, because it allows me to think about all I want to work on in the coming year. I let some opinions go to my head this year that I really shouldn't have given the time of day. I can admit that it hurt my writing (motivation) a great deal. I'm hoping for the whole "new year, new start" on that, and I'm hoping to keep motivation high. So I hope to finish a ton of fics, just as I'd planned to do this year, and I hope to start some new ones that I'd wanted to work with. A big "I wish I'd done it, so maybe I'll do it next year" thing is simply wrapping up a lot of things. I'm hoping for high motivation that can even help to overcome exhaustion. LOL I have another crossover type fic I'm toying with that I would like to write. I've talked about it before, but I'd like to see it happen. I think it could be a lot of fun. I'd like to redo/fix The Little Things (a McReedus fic) and finally see it done and closed. There was another Caryl Western that I wanted to work on, so I'd like to get to it, eventually. There's another take on Caryl in the ZA that I'd like to work on, so that's on the "maybe" for the coming year.

I really want to do something Spock/Saavik, even if it's just a one shot.

I'd like to do something with Laris in it, I think, but I have no idea what. I'd just like to play with her character somewhere.
